Diabetes |
Many of the complications of diabetes and the reduced life expectancy of diabetic patients are due to atherosclerosis: hardening and narrowing of the arteries, and formation of clots that obstruct the arteries. These abnormalities cause kidney failure, heart disease, neurological damage, eye problems, etc. Abnormal lipids (high cholesterol and triglycerides) are a sign of impending disease. Because of diet and lack of insulin, diabetic patients often fail to make enough of various types of EFs.
There is a new treatment available that provides the EFs that diabetic patients need. A health provider can request the fatty acid profile EFA-SRä to identify what types of EFs diabetic patients should add to their diets.
Watch for new research findings and updates in 1999.
